Hello Ian,

first my environment:
Windows XP home, SP3, Kirby runs as service.
If I click on the trayicon with right mouse button - > nothing happens.
process is running but there is no connection to the trayicon.
Even when I start the kirby exe there ist no change.
I must restart the sevice and then the click of the trayicon works again.
Because of this I don't suppose any interferences with other programs.

Do you have a solution for me?

Kind greetings
Roland

P.S. I reinstalled Kirby Alarm but still the same problem. Trayicon seems to be frozen. Neither right nor left mouse click works. Only the tooltip (Kirby Alarm Pro) apperas.

This has been an intermittent problem for some people.
I'm afraid I do not know how to solve it.

My only suggestion would be to try the next version of Kirby Alarm abd see if that fixes it.

You can download the update from http://www.kirbyfooty.com/kapro_v4.46update.zip
Just unzip it to your KA folder.
(Don't forget to exit KA first or windows will complain the file is in use)

Hello Ian,

many thx for your reply,

the download link for the update doesn't work for me. Please check it.

I think I have a solution for the problem I described.
As you know there is a bug in Windows remembering the settings for the trayicons (always hide etc.)
Instead changing the registry settings by hand one can use a little hack  I've found.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"EnableAutoTray"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify]
"PastIconsStream"=-
"IconStreams"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000
"NoTrayItemsDisplay"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"SystemTray"=hex(2):25,00,77,00,69,00,6e,00,64,00,69,00,72,00,25,00,5c,00,73,00,\
  79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,72,\
  00,61,00,79,00,2e,00,65,00,78,00,65,00,00,00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\upnphost]
"Start"=dword:00000004

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SSDPSRV]
"Start"=dword:00000004

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Nla]
"Start"=dword:00000002

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netman]
"Start"=dword:00000002

This solved my problem with KA as well.

Kind greetings
Roland

Sorry about the link.
It should be http://www.kirbyfooty.com/kapro_v4.46update.zip

Also thanks very much for your great detective work about the registry change!
