Hi Ian

I am having a problem with version 4.44. I have a few alarms set up, one of which is timed to go off every 2 weeks. When it does go off, the alarm resets itself to go off again at the same time the next day. I manually correct it, and it works fine and goes off in another 2 weeks as scheduled, then resets itself to go the following day again.

This is only happening with the one alarm. I have others set for different recurring periods and they don't give me any problems, so I was wondering if it's the 2 week period the program doesn't like.

Any thoughts?

Regards
Graeme

Hi Graeme

Umm, thanks for the screen shot. Unfortunately that was of the main screen.

Would you mind posting a screen shot of the alarm setting for the problem alarm please.
(I think it is the one you have set for "Pay Maintenance")
Double click on the alarm as if you were going to modify it.
Then take a snap shot of the alarm settings and post that.

Thanks
Ian

Excellent.
Thanks for that.

The answer is simple.
If you only want the alarm to pop up every Tuesday fortnight then you should only have "Tuesday" ticked as a valid day.
All of the other days should be unticked.
If you tick any of the other days then then the alarm will pop up the next valid day.

The weeks recurrence option can be a little confusing, but also offers a great deal of flexibility.

Example 1. If you want an alarm to pop up every fortnight on Monday and Friday only the alarm settings would be..
Recurrence type - "weeks"
Recurrence value - 2
Valid days - "Mon" and "Fri"

Example 2. If you want an alarm to pop up every weekday the alarm settings would be..
Recurrence type - "weeks"
Recurrence value - 1
Valid days - "Mon" , "Tue, "Wed", "Thu", and "Fri"

Example 3. If you want an alarm to pop up every third Friday the alarm settings would be..
Recurrence type - "weeks"
Recurrence value - 3
Valid days - "Fri"

I hope this clears up any confusion.

Thanks again Ian.

Out of curiosity, in the Example 1 you have listed, if you want an alarm to pop up on Monday and Friday, what date do you set for the 'Alarm Date'? I assume you set the date as the Monday, and the program works out the date for the Friday. It isn't then necessary to set up one alarm for the Monday and a separate one for Friday? Presumably this would apply to the other examples as well.

Exactly!!
You enter the date for Monday.
When Monday comes the program automatically calculates the next alarm date based on the next valid day (ie Friday)

Correct. You only need one alarm.

I have a sort of related question.

If an alarm occurs every 15 days unless day 15 happens to fall on a weekend is it possible to set
an alarm for that timing? I guess the 15th day would fall on Fridays for Saturday and Monday for Sundays.

Thanks

Hi Chris

Please correct me if I am wrong, but you want an alarm on the 15th day of each month. If however the 15th day of the month is a Saturday or Sunday, then execute the alarm on Monday.
Yep. This is definitely  possible.
I have attached a screen dump of the alarm settings

Hi Ian
Unfortunately it's not the 15th of the month. It's just an every 15 day delivery that jumps around the week
ends and that make scheduling more difficult.

Hi Chris

I misunderstood you. Sorry.

Unfortunately that kind of option is not available.
About the only thing I can suggest is to manually check the next alarm date when after the alarm has executed.
If the calculated alarm date falls on the weekend then you will then have to manually adjust it to the Monday.

This is just another thought, but do you run Kirby Alarm during the weekend?
If not, then perhaps NOT ticking the "Skip Missed Alarms".
That way, when you come in on Monday, if the alarm was due to pop up on the weekend (and was missed), then it will still execute on Monday.

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for that, but I also use it to take medications so skipping weekends isn't
an option.
