Author Topic: Cannot restore KA from tray icon  (Read 1356 times)

I hope this is new as I could not find in with a search. Great little program

This stumped me for a while. I have the free KA running on a XP laptop. I am a lousy typist and found that while tapping away an alarm would pop up but I'm not looking at the screen. I carry on typing the alarm seems to go away but the focus was on the alarm panel so nothing gets typed in the email. Net result of all this is KA will not do anything from the tray icon. I could not restore, set new alarm or anything.

The solution: I deleted the 2 alarm files .TPS. Not sure which one fixed the problem but it went away. Had to stop KA first and then restart. I know there is not a right answer to pop up panels grabbing the Windows focus, I just wish they could pop up in front of the current application without stopping keyboard input going to it. Hi Clive,
Thanks very much for your post and kind feedback.

Unfortunately you have uncovered a restriction in the free version of Kirby Alarm. When I originally wrote the program years ago I did not think about allowing multiple alarms. I also thought that bringing the pop up note to the top when it was first executed was sufficient. How wrong I was.
So..in the free version of kirby alarm you can only have one note popped up at time.
You must close the popped up note before any other alarms will be executed, otherwise it would appear that kirby alarm is not responding.
You don't need to delete the TPS files. You just need to close the popped up alarm.

The pro version of kirby alarm does not have this restriction. ie Multiple alarms will pop up. The position on the screen of each note will be staggered so you can see them.

With regard to your comment about the original application retaining focus I will see what can be done in the pro version.

For more details on the pro version check out http://www.kirbyfooty.com/html/kirby_alarm_pro.html
You can try the pro version for free for 30 days and updates to the pro version are free for TWO years from the date of purchase.

Kind regards
Ian
