Hi Ian

When checking for updates, I am getting a Critical Error Message dialog box appear.
The message reads:
Quote
EXE, Batch File or PIF File Not Found: wupdate.exe
Please notify technical support immediately!

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks
Andy

In about 2004 I was looking for a program to start another program at a set time. There wasn't much out there. Then I came across Kirby Alarm. As someone said it is truly a "set it and forget it" program. I used the free version for a few years. In fact I set it to do what I wanted and forgot I was even using it. One day I realized I had gotten much use out of the free version. I have never needed the Pro version, but bought it simply to support this great software. Been using Pro since FEB 4th 2009. P.S. it has worked flawlessly on XP, VISTA, now Windows 7 64 bit with NO issues for me.

I have a new computer running Windows 8 and have downloaded the free version of KA. It seems to load OK but when I try to open it, I can't get it to open in order to register?  I am currently using KA on my other computer with Win XP and also a laptop with Win 7 and both work fine. Any suggestions.

I don't know how to make the submit button work generally from the mail app on the iPhone/iPad, but there are a couple of work-arounds we have found :-
For those with a Gmail email account, open the email from an App called G-Whizz (free) - the submit button works then;
it also works if you tap-hold the attachment from the normal email app and open it in an App called Dropbox (free) - the submit button also works from there.

I hope this helps those with this problem before there is a general fix.

1. Select the "Check For Update" option from the main menu
2. Click on "Next"
3. If a new version is available down load the update

If, for some reason the update does not work, then simply download the admin version from the download page http://www.kirbyfooty.com/downloads.php and reinstall.
Don't worry, you will not lose any data.
However, having said that, it is always wise to do backup. HAVE YOU DONE A BACKUP RECENTLY?

As you know the person that picks the most number of winning teams in the round is that week's winner.
This has meant a lot of people have had to split the prize money because quite often many people tip the same number of winning teams.
To overcome this you can use the margin. ie Each tipper enters how many points their tipped team will win by.

It is only used on one game. In the comps I run, I have the margin on first game. (You set this up in the comp preferences)

FYI: The selected game can be overridden on a round by round basis if you want to. Some people prefer to get their tippers to always enter the margin for a particular club or ground etc. This is done in the fixture maintenance.

Some examples on the margin..
For example, suppose you and I had tipper the same number of winning teams in a round and that West Coast played Fremantle. West Coast won by 20 points

Scenario 1
If I tipped West Coast to win by 15 points (ie 5 points diff to the actual) , and you tipped West Coast to win by 16 points (4 points diff to the actual) then you would win the round.

Scenario 2
If I tipped West Coast to win by 15 points (ie 20-15 = 5 points diff to the actual) , and you tipped Fremantle to win by 16 points (20+16=36 points diff to the actual) then I would win the round.

Are you absolutely sure you unzipped the file into the SAME folder where kirby alarm is installed to?
A common problem is people accidentally create a sub folder when extracting the zip file.

I have tried to update to 5.01 from 4.45, but if I close Kirby Alarm first, then the update cannot open KAREGIST giving an error #2.  Then I tried without closing KA first, but nothing happened, and a recheck of KA's "about" tab is still 4.45. I tried again with KA shut off, and received the same #2 error, but this time it said that KAREGIST could not be found.  I have tried this a few times each way with the same 3 results.  The only KAREGIST I see is one spelled KARegist.TPS.  Is this the file that is not working?  Does anyone have any suggestions for me?  I would appreciate any advice you have.

Yours,
Grateful   Smiley

Hi Liza

Unfortunately split rounds are treated as the one round.
It would be up to your tipping administrator if they accepted any modifications to tips once the round has already been started.

The program allows it, but I can see it could be difficult for the tipping administrator if there lots of people in the comp.
He would have to make sure that no one changed there tips for the games already played.
